Seattle, we have a problem

(The title refers to the fact that Larry Wall, author of Perl, went to undergrad college in Seattle, WA)

I’m writing a perl script. In general, the number of file handles opened with the open call should equal the number of file handles closed with the close call. Here’s what I ended up with:

kitesfear 11% grep "open" holiday_mail.pl | wc -l
5
kitesfear 12% grep "close" holiday_mail.pl | wc -l
2

This is a problem.
