Newspaper Clippings from Lowtax’s Attic

So, I never actually joined the Something Awful forums, but in the days before Youtube and Stumbleupon, its articles by paid humorists provided me with hours of entertainment.  I started reading their main page (which I’m led to believe you can get banned from the forums just for mentioning) near the end of high school and have been following it on and off ever since.  So, here are some articles you might find entertaining:

Blue Stripe: The Life and Times of a Droid Maintenance Technician
by Zack “Geist Editor” Parsons
The Blue Stripe series is all about the low-level technicians in science fiction settings. Their lives are full of mundane tasks while their superiors are swept up in grand adventures. Pretty much any Blue Stripe article is comedic gold, if you’re familiar with whichever canon it takes place in, but I found this one to be particularly chuckle-worthy.

Being an Asshole in High School was Rad
by Dr. David Thorpe
Some of this might be too mean-spirited for some, but I enjoyed it. Regardless of whether its true or not, these stories are generally a step beyond the sort of jerk that I could ever be.

Space Robot Bonanza!
by Rich “Lowtax” Kyanka
There are lots of similar ICQ pranks on Something Awful, most of which I found to be hilarious, but this is one of the classics from the frontier days of the internet. It also inspired this flash animation.

Halloween SWAT
by Zack “Geist Editor” Parsons and Dr. David Thorpe
The Fashion SWAT series points out some of the world’s more ridiculous styles and trends. I’ve got to say, though, that some of these costumes are absolutely terrifying.
