As everyone knows by now, I’ve been looking for a job for a year. Lately, I’ve noticed that entry-level work is totally nonexistent. All the companies that ARE hiring are looking for 10-20 years industry experience and very specific tool / process experience. Like a programmer with 10-20 years experience in the insurance agency and 5-7 years experience with Allstate Claim Evaluator on a Citrix platform. WTF? Who, besides a former insurance agent-turned-programmer has that kind of experience? What are recent college grads supposed to do to break into their industries?
